Interrogative sentence (প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্য)

কোন প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞেস করলে তাকে Interrogative sentence বলা হয়। Interrogative sentence এর পরে subject বসে। Verb ‘To be’ এবং ‘To have’ ব্যতীত Present Indefinite Tense এ Do / Does এবং Past Indifinite Tense এ Did এই Auxiliary verb গুলির সাহায্যে Interrogative Sentence গঠিত হয়। আবার নিজের মতে কারও সমর্থন চাইলে Sentence এর সাথে একটি প্রশ্নও জুড়ে দেওয়া হয়। একে Tag question বলে। সাধারণ Positive statement এর সাথে Negative tag এবং Negetive statement এর সাথে positve tag থাকে।

What is the form of an interrogative sentence?

The typical form (structure) of an interrogative sentence is:

auxiliary verb	+	subject	+	main verb
Do		you		speak	English?

main verb BE	+	subject
Were		you	cold?

If we use a WH- word it usually goes first:

WH-word	auxiliary verb	+	subject	+	main verb

১. বাজে জিনিস পড়ে সময় নষ্ট কর কেন? Why do you waste time in reading trash? (হোয়াই ডু ইউ ওয়েষ্ট টাইম ইন রিডিং ট্রাস?)

৩. সেকি তোমাকে ইহা বলে নাই? Didn’t he tell you this? (ডিডেন্ট হি টেল ইউ দিস?)

৪. তুমি কি করছিলে? What were you doing? (হোয়াট ওয়্যার ইউ ডুয়িং?)

৫. কেকটি কি তুমি বানিয়েছ? Did you make this cake? (ডিড ইউ মেক দিস কেক?)

৬. তুমি কি আজ উঠবে না? Won’t you get up today? (ওন্ট ইউ গেট আপ টুডে?)

৭. আপনি কেন ব্যাস্ত হচ্ছেন? Why do you bother? (হোয়াই ডু ইউ বদার?)

৮. আপনি এখানে কেন এসেছেন? What brings you here? (হোয়াট ব্রিংস ইউ হিয়ার?)

৯. তুমি গতকাল মার্কেটে গিয়েছিলে, যাওনি? You went to the market yesterday, didn’t you? (ইউ ওয়েন্ট টু দা মার্কেট ইয়েস্টারডে, ডিডেন্ট ইউ?)

১০. আকাশ মেঘে ঢাকা, তাই না? The sky is clouded, isn’t it? (দা স্কাই ইজ ক্লাউডেড, ইজেন্ট ইট?)

১১. তোমার কলমটি ভাল লেখে, লেখে না? Your pen writes well, doesn’t it? (ইওর পেন রাইটস ওয়েল, ডাজেন্ট ইট?)

১২. তোমার টাকার টান পরেছিল, নয় কি? You were short by money, weren’t you? (ইউ ওয়ের শর্ট বাই মানি, ওয়ারেন্ট ইউ?)

১৩. তাহাদের কেউই উওরটা জানতনা, জানত? None of them knew the answer, did they? (নান অফ দেম নিউ দা অ্যানসার, ডিড দেই?)

১৪. আজ খুব ঠান্ডা, নয় কি? It’s very cold today, isn’t it? (ইটস ভেরি কোল্ড টুডে, ইজেন্ট ইট?)

১৫. আমরা শিঘ্রই তৈরি হয়ে যাব, যাব না? We will be ready soon, won’t we be? ( উই উইল বি রেডি সুন, ওন্ট উই বি?)

১৬. তুমি তোমার কাজ শেষ করে নিয়েছিলে, নাওনি? You had your work done, hadn’t you? (ইউ হ্যাড ইওর ওয়ার্ক ডান, হ্যাডেন্ট ইউ?)

১৭. তুমি ইংরেজী বলতে পারো, পারোনা? You can speak English, can’t you? (ইউ ক্যান স্পিক ইংলিস, ক্যান্ট ইউ?)

১৮. আপনার সেখানে যাওয়ার দরকার নেই, আছেকি? You needn’t go there, do you? (ইউ নিডেন্ট গো দেয়ার, ডু ইউ?)

১৯. তুমি কি সারাক্ষণ বাইরে ছিলে? Were you out the whole time? (ওয়ের ইউ আউট দা হোল টাইম?)

২০. কয়টা বাজে? What time is it? (হোয়াট টাইম ইজ ইট?)

২১. তুমি সেখানে কি করছিলে? What were you doing there? (হোয়াট ওয়ের ইউ ডুয়িং দেয়ার?)

২২. তুমি কি তোমার গাছ গুলো ছাঁটতেছিলে? Were you pruning your plants? (ওয়ের ইউ প্রুনিং ইওর প্ল্যান্টস?)

২৩. তুমি তোমার গাছে পানি দিয়েছ? Did you water your plants? (ডিড ইউ ওয়াটার ইওর প্যান্টস?)

২৪. আমরা সেখানে যাব না, যাব কি? We won’t go there, would we? (উই ওন্ট গো দেয়ার, উড উই?)

২৫. দিনটা খুব সুন্দর তাই না? The day is very wonderful, isn’t it? (দা ডে ইজ ভেরি ওয়ান্ডারফুল, ইজেন্ট ইট?)

২৬. তোমাকে দিয়ে কি কাজ টি হবে? Will the work be done by you? (উইল দা ওয়ার্ক বি ডান বাই ইউ?)

২৭. সে বাঁশি বাজাতে পারে, পারে না? She can play the flute, can’t she? (শি ক্যান পে দা ফ্লুট, ক্যান্ট শি?)

২৮. তুমি কি জানালাটা বন্ধ করতে পারবে? Can you close the window? (ক্যান ইউ ক্লোজ দা উইন্ডো?)

২৯. তারা কি বন্ধু? Are they friends? (আর দেই ফ্রেন্ডস?)

৩০. বই টা তোমার সাথে ছিল না? Wasn’t the book with you? (ওয়াজেন্ট দা বুক উইথ ইউ?)

৩১. সেকি গেতে পারে? Can she sing? (ক্যান সি সিং?)

৩২. তুমি কেন কালকে চলে গিয়েছিলে? Why did you go yesterday? (হোয়াই ডিড ইউ গো ইয়েস্টারডে?)

৩৩. তুমি কাকে খুজতেছ? Whom are you looking for? (হোম আর ইউ লুকিং ফর?)

৩৪. সেকি তাকে সাহায্য করেছিল? Did he help him? (ডিড হি হেল্প হিম?)

৩৫. সে এখন কোথায় বলে তামার মনে হয়? Where do you think he is? (হোয়্যার ডু ইউ থিংক হি ইজ?)

৩৬. ‘হারা’ শব্দটি তোমার অভিদানে নেই, আছে কি? The word ‘lose’ isn’t in your dictionary, is it? (দা ওয়ারড ’লুজ’ ইজেন্ট ইন ইয়োর ডিকসনারি, ইজ ইট?)
