Coronavirus in India: Confirmed cases in Uttar Pradesh reach 2,880 as 118 more test positive

Uttar Pradesh reported 118 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 2,880. There are 1,836 active cases in the state as of now.

Out of 2,880 total Covid-19 patients, 1,152 are linked to the Tablighi Jamaat. 987 patients have recovered and discharged from hospital.

Fifty six deaths related to the novel coronavirus have been reported in the state so far — two in Ghaziabad, one each in Shravasti, Varanasi, Aligarh, Mainpuri, Jhansi, Bijnore, Kanpur, Dehat, Amroha, Bareilly, Basti, Bulandshahar, Lucknow; seven each in Meerut and Moradabad, three in Firozabad, 16 in Agra, five in Kanpur Naga and four in Mathura.

In Uttar Pradesh, the maximum number of cases of novel coronavirus have been reported in Agra (640), followed by Kanpur (276), Lucknow (231), Saharanpur (205) and Noida (193), according to the state health department.
