The cash-rich IPL has been done and dusted and cricket experts and commentators are coming up with interesting opinions about the tournament. The former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has picked his best XI of IPL 2020. Chopra who is known for his opinions on the gentleman’s game did not pick RCB captain Virat Kohli in his best XI.
Kings XI Punjab captain and opener KL Rahul has been picked by Chopra as best captain. Even though Kings XI failed miserably in the initial stages of the tournament, they switched gears in the latter stages. Under KL Rahul’s captaincy, his team won five games on the trot. Aakash was impressed with KL Rahul’s astute captaincy and it was so easy for him to pick Rahul as captain.
Besides that KL Rahul won the orange cap as he ended up as tournament’s leading run-scorer. The right-handed batsman scored 670 runs in the tournament. He was also picked as an opening batsman along with Shikhar Dhawan who was the second leading run-scorer of the IPL. The left-handed batsman who was the leading run-scorer for Delhi Capitals scored 618 runs.
“I have kept KL Rahul at the top. He has the Orange Cap and is also an amazing player. It is not easy to score 670 runs in a season, especially when your team does not qualify, and you get to play only 14 matches. He is also going to keep wickets and be the captain of my team,” said cricket expert Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel.
Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav stunned the cricket fraternity by taking their game to the next level. The Mumbai Indians duo was picked by Aakash Chopra. “At No.4, I have Suryakumar Yadav. He has been very very good, consistent, and aggressive throughout the tournament. He played well against pace and spin, in difficult circumstances and with his ability to finish matches and hitting in the powerplay as well,” he added in a statement.
Aakash Chopra was pretty much confused between Nicholas Pooran or Marcus Stoinis for no. 5. In the end, he picked AB de Villiers. Rahul Tewatia has been at No.6. As far as spin bowling attack is concerned, the former Indian opener picked Rashid Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal. Both the spinners performed really well for their respective teams.
Kagiso Rabada won the purple cap as he ended up as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament. He picked 29 wickets in IPL 2020. Rabada, Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer have been picked by Chopra.
